The narrative unfolds over five years across five stages of a hunt: Survey, Stalk, Chase, Catch, and Repose. This inaugural set captures the “Survey” stage, representing the tense stillness and calculated awareness of the predator just before action. Both the massive 1kg (1000g, 100mm) and 5oz (155g, 50mm) coins are struck from .999 fine silver. The reverse features a poised cheetah surveying its domain atop a tree trunk, complete with a privy mark of the artist’s initials. The obverse presents an equally striking, refined cropped profile of the animal. Because of the extreme depth of the relief and textured fields, these large-format coins feel more like handheld wildlife sculptures than traditional tender. Each set is accompanied by official South African Mint wooden presentation boxes and numbered certificates of authenticity.
