Ready to sell? Start by emailing us the details of your bullion. We only buy back coins and bars originally purchased from Uzumba.
Step 01 of 05
Send Us an Email
Email us at info@uzumba.co.za with the details of the bullion you wish to sell. Please include the following:
The quantity of coins or bars
The type of bullion (e.g. 1oz Krugerrand Bullion BU, 1oz Krugerrand Proof)
The condition — original packaging, uncirculated, or handled
A copy of your original Uzumba invoice for the items you wish to sell
We will also ask for your South African ID or passport and proof of residential address to verify your identity in accordance with FICA before we proceed.
FICA note: Identity verification is required before any buy-back transaction can proceed. A valid ID or passport plus proof of address will be requested.
Step 02 of 05
Receive a Buy-Back Offer
Should we agree to proceed, we will email you a provisional offer to purchase within 48 hours of your enquiry.
How pricing works
The provisional offer is based on the live gold spot price and USD/ZAR exchange rate on the day it is issued.
Final pricing is confirmed on the day we physically receive your bullion. The spot price on that day may differ from the provisional offer — this is standard market practice.
Our buy-back rate is competitive and based on prevailing market conditions. We aim to offer sellers a fair price while keeping the secondary market healthy for everyone.
Coins with fingerprints or handling marks will be valued lower than uncirculated (BU) examples of the same coin.
If courier collection is required, the courier cost and insurance (1% of shipment value) will be deducted from the final buy-back amount.
Step 03 of 05
Accept the Offer & Send Three Documents
If you wish to accept the buy-back offer, reply by email to confirm. Once your bullion arrives, we require the following three documents before payment is released:
A personal invoice with your full name, address, phone number, and invoice number — made out to Uzumba
A copy of your South African ID or passport, plus a recent proof of residential address (FICA)
A completed and signed VAT 264 declaration form — contact us if you need a copy or example
Payment will not be processed until all three documents are verified. Contact us if you need our full company details for your invoice.
Step 04 of 05
Deliver Your Bullion
Choose how you would like to get your bullion to us:
Option A
Courier Collection
We will arrange courier collection from your address within 48 hours of your acceptance. Courier costs and insurance (1% of shipment value) are for your account and will be deducted from the buy-back amount.
Option B
Drop Off in Germiston
You are welcome to drop off your bullion at our offices in Germiston, Gauteng by appointment. Please contact us in advance to arrange a suitable date and time.
Please pack bullion carefully and securely. Coins or bars damaged in transit will not be accepted and will be returned to you.
Step 05 of 05
Receive Payment
Once we have received and inspected your bullion and confirmed it is in the condition stated, we will issue a remittance advice and confirm the final amount. Payment is made the next business day via EFT directly into your nominated bank account, provided all paperwork is complete.
Final price is based on the live spot rate and exchange rate on the day we receive your bullion — not the day of the provisional offer.
You will receive a payment confirmation email once the EFT has been processed.
No payment will be released until all three documents (Step 3) are received and verified.
Please read these terms carefully before submitting a sell-back enquiry.
01Uzumba offers a buy-back service on bullion originally purchased from us. We cannot offer a guaranteed buy-back and reserve the right to decline any offer based on current stock levels or market conditions.
02We do not buy back coins or bullion purchased from other dealers.
03Final pricing is based on the live gold spot price and USD/ZAR exchange rate on the day physical receipt of your bullion is confirmed — not the date of the provisional offer.
04Uzumba reserves the right to make payment in cash or EFT at our discretion.
05We will not buy back damaged coins or bullion. Items that are damaged in transit will be returned to the seller.
06Coins that show fingerprints or discolouration due to handling without cotton gloves will be valued lower than uncirculated (BU) examples of the same coin.
07We prioritise buy-back of Krugerrands and South African Mint certified coins in full, unopened tubes or original presentation packaging.
08All transactions are subject to FICA identity verification. No payment will be made until all required documents have been received and verified.
09Courier and insurance costs (1% of shipment value) are for the seller's account and will be deducted from the buy-back amount where applicable.
